The sorry state of our public transport system!

28 June 2011

To: Transport Minister Lui,

Please do something about it!

And while you're at it, here too: "Top 10 most dangerous roads in Singapore: insurer" - link http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/fit-to-post-autos/top-10-most-dangerous-roads-singapore-insurer-073639154.html

Only 1 bus serving important camps but bus takes 15 min to arrive

STOMPer MS thinks the frequency of bus 172 can be improved, especially as it results in long queues for the bus (see picture). He says that speed is important when getting army, airforce and SCDF personnel to their camps.

STOMPer MS said:

"This is my rant that SMRT bus 172 has a very cocked-up frequency.

"We always have to wait about 15mins for the next bus at Boon Lay interchange if we miss one.

"Furthermore, I can't understand why the frequency could not be adjusted.

"The lanes next to us, buses 255 and 180 has more frequent frequency than bus 172, most of the time 2 or 3 bus 255s would pass before we get our 172.

"It would be ok if it is not the only bus serving the many important camps, namely Singapore Civil Defence Academy, Tengah Airbase, Keat Hong Camp and Home Team Academy.

"That 15 mins for our uniformed personnel is very crucial, and only 2mins of delay from their homes could have caused the more than 15 min delay to reach camp.

"This is not fair for them.

"I hope this Stomp posting would wake SMRT's idea as I'm sure I'm not the first to complain; my friends have wrote letters to them.

"I have personally posted this issue onto MP Zaqy Mohamed's Facebook wall regarding this issue several months ago."

PM Lee asks "MPs to hold fast to the spirit of service to the people and to work hard on their behalf."

"The intensified effort comes amid several calls by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in recent months for MPs to hold fast to the spirit of service to the people and to work hard on their behalf.

‘The purpose of this is to let the grassroots know that the focus must be on the residents and not the MP. I also want residents to feel that I’m one of them,’ he said."

Is the PAP a profligate government?

http://singstatistician.blogspot.com/2011/06/is-pap-prolifigate-government.html

Raymond Lim salah lah. I took bus and MRT so I know.

"Minister Lui Teck Yew wants the government to work with the public transport companies to add more buses on the road. This is on top of the earlier announced multi-billion dollar upgrade of the MRT signaling system so that MRT trains can come at greater frequency.

    • Adeline Tan Not being a consumer of MRT services - there isn't a line close enough where I live - I apologize for being unable to contribute to the debate on how to alleviate overcrowding. What truly amazed me, though, is the obvious lack of humour in some of our posters. It is regrettable that we, as a society, are so often unable to see wit and irony in literature, choosing instead to take words at face value.
